Having experienced in a picturesque bunch of styles, the St. Petersburg-based band which you may recall as the Kaleidoscope now turns Indie becoming The Indie Ocean. Getting born on a dusty, extremely hot and (damn) really red hot Crimean day somewhen in the midst of summer ’03, the group has gone thru several lineup changes and style searches, finally opting for the magical drums-lead-bass formula a bit updated by the soon-to-appear keyboards and electronics. The band’s diverse sound features a juggernaut wall of raw indie garage rock riffs as well as razor-sharp slappy funk-rock pieces, including a slight spot of vintage vibe pastiche-like Ocean’s 12 OST, varying from upbeat groovy songs to melodic ballads and inevitably taking after the modern indie alternative concept. The IO’s todo list is always full of new ideas to be materialized.
As the band’s name reads, the Indie Ocean, or the IO, is always floating through the new waves of music. As the namesake of the Jupiter’s moon, the effects of IO’s eccentric orbit and Jupiter’s strong gravitation pull combine to give IO an ever-changing landscape of beauty.
